Fergusson Falls, Overland Track, Tasmania
After exiting from these falls, I managed to slip on the track and land on my knee, bruising it quite badly. Fortunately, I was still able to walk. Once I got back to my pack, I put the camera away and focussed on getting through the next 5kms to the next hut and catching up with the rest of the group.

D’Alton Falls, Overland Track
Skipping ahead momentarily, by request… After negotiating a very steep and slippery track, I managed to get this far. The main falls, which are very impressive, are actually around to the left. Oh well, back to the drawing board. By this time, I getting quite behind the other group and didn’t have much to show for it.

Waterfall Valley Hut Outhouse, Overland Track, Tasmania
The toilet facilities at each hut were quite impressive. Apparently the peak season booking fee only covers the cost of removal of human waste by helicopter.

Waterfall Valley Hut, Overland Track, Tasmania
I awoke the next morning to the sounds of people cooking breakfast over my head. I just curled up in a ball until they were done. This was the scene that greeted us. We stayed inside while we waited for the rest of our party to arrive as the snow continued to fall. They’d booked to start the hike the day after us (kind of an odd system).
